Co presented by Hart House/U of T and the Art Gallery of Ontario
This years event will ground us firmly in the earth as we excavate its materials and metals to examine our close knit ancestral history of African and Indigenous mythology. We invite you into this conversation to create a welcoming space and a critical cypher while we envision a speculative visitation that blends Michael Belmore’s rock formations and Quentin Vercetty’s AI themed future present.
Date: February 28, 2022, 6pm on Zoom.
Hosted by Dr. Audrey Hudson from the Art Gallery of Ontario. The panel includes community members, artist educators, teachers and activists. Panel participants: Freda Bizimana, Jayda Marley, Joy Martyr-Andre, Mosa McNeilly, Emmanuel Tabi, Sam Tecle, and Quentin VerCetty. This round table discussion is for teachers, parents and anyone who wants to have these brave conversations.
Join Audrey Hudson, Richard & Elizabeth Currie Chief of Education & Programming, in conversation with Robert Durocher (Vice-Principal), Jenny Kay Dupuis (Author), and Lindsey Knight, Eekwol (Hip-hop Artist). The talk will be centred on a continued conversation about residential schools and available resources within the AGO's collection. This discussion is for students, teachers, parents and anyone who wants to begin having these culturally safe conversations.
